Restrictions to email sending

All of our shared hosting servers have some restrictions to email sending.

These restrictions have been put in place to ensure that server resources are not unfairly monopolised as this can cause negative effects for other users. These restrictions are also in place to prevent and avoid spam and abuse.

Maximum number of emails per hour

The first and most important restriction to keep in mind is the maximum number of emails you are able to send per domain per hour. By default this is set to 50. It is rare that you will run into this limit, but if for any reason you find yourself needing to send more than 50 emails an hour, you can contact support and we may be able to raise this restriction for your account. If you regularly need to send a large number of emails, we recommend looking into a mailing service, such as Mailchimp.

Maximum attachment size

We recommend not sending attachments larger that 5MB. While they may successfully send, many mailservers will not accept larger attachments, so if you need to send larger files we strongly recommend using a file sharing or file storage service, such as Dropbox.
